Crystle Lightning

Director & Co-Creator of Bear Grease

Crystle Lightning (Canadian Screen Award winner for Best Actress in a Drama Series, 2021) is a powerhouse performing artist, director, and storyteller from the Enoch Cree Nation in Alberta. Her journey in entertainment began at just nine years old, when the Lightning family moved from Canada to Los Angeles, where Crystle booked her first starring role in the feature film 3 Ninjas: Knuckle Up. She has been captivating audiences on both sides of the border ever since.

A graduate of the prestigious Beverly Hills Playhouse, one of Hollywood’s most respected acting institutions, Lightning’s career reflects both her talent and her trailblazing spirit. Her diverse body of work spans film, television, and voice acting, with standout credits including Outlander(Starz), Trickster (The CW), The Good Doctor (ABC), Three Pines (Prime Video), Lawmen: Bass Reeves (Paramount+), Spirit Rangers (Netflix), Fancy Dance(Apple TV+) opposite Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone, Mary Margaret Road Grader (produced by George R. R. Martin), and Ghosts (CBS). Most recently, she wrapped filming the upcoming USA Network drama Anna Pigeon, premiering in early 2026.

Beyond the screen, Crystle is breaking barriers in theatre as the Co-Creator and Director of Bear Grease, the global smash-hit Indigenous musical that reimagines the 1978 classic Grease through an electrifying Native lens. The production made its Off-Broadway debut in New York City this past summer, where it made history as the longest-running Indigenous musical in Broadway history.

With each role and project, Crystle Lightning continues to redefine what it means to be Indigenous, female and fearless in entertainment, lighting the way for the next generation of storytellers around the world.
